A scientific experiment gone wild. A franchise concept is born.
Dr. Ina Labcoat, the CEO of 1-800-Peelers recently shared his story with this blogger:
"In 1999, I was working in my Emmet, New Jersey laboratory on a tooth whitening liquid. At the time I was a fellow at NNJU {Northern New Jersey University}. NNJU is well known for it's innovative Anti-Geek Dental Program. {Where geeky Dentists are Un-Geeked}. Anyway, I had just poured a millileter of benzodioxacyclooctadecin in a beaker filled with benzothiadiazole-7-carbothioic acid. All of a sudden, a pink light appeared in the lab, and music started playing. After the music stopped, I noticed that the wallpaper in my lab completely peeled off the north facing wall! I freaked out a bit, but being a scientist and all, I took out my Flip Video Camera, and documented the peeling wall. History was being made!"
Fast forward 2 years, and a franchise was born. Dr. Labcoat made the choice to leave lab work, and Dentistry, and become a businessman. He consulted with a franchise development company, and launched 1-800-Peelers in 2002. Their motto:
"We peel em, you don't!" For those of us who have had the extreme pleasure of peeling wallpaper, this franchise is a Godsend.
